THE BASELINE #2

9 x 2 x 13

Ceramic

$200.00

My work often revisits a form to either continue exploring an idea or re-present it in a new way. The numbers after the name are both a throwback to classic American abstraction but also represents the series number of a streamlined object. Iphone 1, Iphone 2…. etc.

When teaching children to draw, you start with a baseline, a term for the line that everything appears to sit on, usually the ground but sometimes it curves to make mountains or water. I made my baseline so it could lean against a wall or point the viewer around a corner. The point is that it still is functionally – perhaps even ceremonially – the same.
