Entertainment was inspired by Josephy Bueys’ sculpture Earth Telephone. While the earth is no longer on the other end of the line (symbolically) in my re-work my goal instead is to present the viewer with a symbolic choice between technology as entertainment, or physical art. Although, I see a possibility to have both worlds myself.

the word give is presented in two ways here, both in the action of giving something up as a favor or out of kindness and giving into the weight or pressure.
To me, sometimes I feel when I do one I am also doing the other. Like the children’s story The Giving Tree, when the tree offers something, it’s giving up a part of itself.
8 x 5 x 8
Early ceremonial cup featuring both the functional object and the negative space that was trimmed away on the wheel (on right)
Title is in reference to the rotation of the wheel, and the components of the object presented in a way so as to consider them in the finished state but also recursively.
